USA

Foundation date: 1972

L’Arche in the United States is rooted in our global mission to build places of belonging for people with intellectual disabilities, while also growing to develop new and expansive models of community life. The L’Arche movement in the USA is committed to building inclusive communities that celebrate the diversity of the country, meaning each community in the USA is unique and vibrant, reflecting the creativity and gifts of its increasingly wide membership. And while some communities in the Unites States may have differences in traditions and culture, all remain committed to L’Arche’s common values of uplifting the human dignity of all people in society, cultivating personal and spiritual growth for L’Arche members, and fostering authentic friendships between people with and without intellectual disabilities.
