Zimbabwe

Foundation date: 1997

L’Arche Zimbabwe is a community situated in Harare, the capital city. The community currently welcomes 24 persons with intellectual disabilities in its day programs, of which 22 of them live in two L’Arche homes.

The community works through its day programs to improve the quality of life for persons with intellectual disabilities. Specific workshops include the Poultry Farm, Therapy Centre, Grinding Mill, Horticulture Farm and the Day Care Centre.

One unique program is the Outreach Program, through which  L’Arche accompanies persons with intellectual disabilities and their families in communities around Harare.  Through this initiative the community reaches out to over 120 people every month.

It is satisfying that I am part of the community that shows that every human being is a gift, and that cares for physical and spiritual growth.
