L’Arche in Argentina is increasingly recognised as offering a working alternative model in the field of care for people with intellectual disabilities: two-way care. The L’Arche model is first and foremost based on celebration of the individual person: each is celebrated as a person with unique potential and so given the support they need to develop their unique talents, something almost impossible to achieve in the large-scale institutional model.
As a community of people with and without an intellectual disability, L’Arche stands against discrimination. L’Arche stands with the billion individuals across the world spotlighted by the United Nations on December 3, the International Day of People with Disabilities.
