What comes next, together
Our vision for L’Arche in the world, how we plan to get there, and the partners we will need.
01 · Our vision
A world where everyone belongs.
The need that L’Arche answers is growing. In a time of loneliness and division, relationships between people with and without intellectual disabilities show what belonging can look like.
Meet one of the deepest human needs, the need to belong, by facilitating relationships with people with disabilities, in stable, healthy, flourishing communities.

02 · How we get there
How we plan to get there
The foundations built during this grant are the starting point for the next chapter.
What is already in motion
- A five-year strategic plan, co-created with national and regional leadership and approved by the International Leadership Team.
- A governance review and a vote on a new constitution in 2026, aiming for stronger representation of communities, more participation by people with intellectual disabilities and better accountability.
- A restructured L’Arche International that brings support closer to communities, works in project mode and keeps a balanced budget.
- Community assessments for 75% of single and middle-country communities by the end of 2026, and the next safeguarding evaluation in 2027.
- Social entrepreneurship: consolidating the four pilots and using the new framework to support more communities.
- Nothing About Me Without Me in 2026–27, and regional action plans and budgets attached to the Global Case for Support.
[Paragraph: the two or three priorities L’Arche will focus on first after the grant ends.]
The partners we will need
[Paragraph: the kinds of partners L’Arche hopes to walk with next, and what it can offer them in return.]
New relationships are already forming, including a family foundation interested in social entrepreneurship and an organisation that supports next-generation philanthropists in giving strategically.
Closing this chapter with Porticus
If any funds remain unspent by 31 December 2026, L’Arche will email Porticus with the amount left and a date by which it expects to use it, so the final report date can move to match the new end of the grant period.
A final conversation to formally close the grant is still to be scheduled. Because the last two grants to L’Arche were unusually large and proposed by family members with deep connections to L’Arche, other Porticus colleagues may join.
