Solidarity in action
Immerse into a new culture: in Asia, Africa or Latin America. Our communities are a beautiful and powerful sign to their societies and to the world in making known the value and gifts of people with intellectual disabilities.
In response to the call of communities by request, experienced assistants are sent to specific missions to support our communities over a period of 2-3 years. If you have a solid experience in the area of international cooperation, language skills and preferably 5 years of experience in L’Arche or comparable experience, please get in touch with us.
You are at L'Arche since 5 years, or have equivalent experience in a relevant field, you've already participated in the International Experience program or abroad for an extended period, you are healthy and relatively autonomous, fluent in the language of the hosting community and have the desire to serve and share your talents and experience.
This is what you can expect
The mission involves sharing everyday life of the community and by providing a formative presence around an identified area or activity. This could be related to the community’s development, to the quality of community life or to an interim leadership role. Here are some examples: Assisting in the development of daytime activities, facilitating the transition of a community to the next local leader, or implementing a new pedagogical approach.
Ready to join us!
The candidate is prepared, sent and supported throughout the mission by the Director of Human Resources who will prepare an agreement between the individual and the welcoming community to clarify the mission and the conditions. L’Arche International provides a stipend and ensures full coverage of social security and health insurance.
