L’Arche is growing in a world of many cultures, different beliefs and various languages. In the countries of Southern Europe and the Middle East in particular, L’Arche offers a message of hope, affirming both the humanity and the uniqueness of those who make their life in its communities.

The 12 communities in the region that reaches from Switzerland to Syria, are all based on the shared life of persons with different intellectual capacities. L’Arche houses are open and welcoming and recognise the other’s uniqueness as wealth.

Currently, the Southern Europe and Middle East zone has opened two missions What is a mission? in Palestine and in Ukraine. Contacts have been established in countries of Central and Eastern Europe where L’Arche is not yet present.
