Become an assistant
In L’Arche communities, assistants and people with a developmental disability live, work and share their time together. If you want to join a community to assist people with an intellectual disability, you will be challenged to difference and diversity, to openness and tolerance, to close relationships, to personal and spiritual growth.
According to your own personal desire, your skills and the needs of the community, you may live and work in a home, or work in an occupational therapy / production workshop. If you come to L’Arche, you will bring with you your gifts, your skills, your know-how, but it is above all you, as a person, that we are expecting. In L’Arche, being ready to receive is just as important as giving.
Make a donation
L’Arche communities are non-profit organisations which rely on the support of the wider community. While communities in some countries need to fundraise to supplement government funding, many others are totally dependant on solidarity. You can make your donation to a nearby community, to the national association in your country or to our office by specifying where you want your money to go.

Become a friend
Become a friend of one of the houses or a particular person if you wish to be close to a L’Arche community. You can also come to help with the cooking, the gardening or our committee work.
Join a Board of Directors
Each of our communities has a Board of Directors that holds legal and financial responsibility for the community. We are always in need of administrators who want to adhere to the spirit of L’Arche and who can support the community management.
Pray for L’Arche
Prayer is at the heart of L'Arche. In most of our homes we gather together each evening to share our concerns and joys in prayer. These are times of peaceful unity and nourishment.
Join us in prayer! Help us by praying for and with us. Pray that our communities remain faithful to L’Arche’s core values, the sharing of life together as people with and without intellectual disabilities in communities of faith. Pray that people may come and commit themselves to the life in L’Arche as assistants, board members and friends.
